County and Regional Resources

Genealogical Forum of Oregon
Whether you are new to genealogy or on track to becoming an expert, we are lucky to have a valuable resource nearby. The GFO not only has the largest genealogical library in the Pacific Northwest, but there multiple special interest groups that may be able to help you understand DNA or solve a difficult brick wall. There is a fee for membership, but this local resource is worth it!
Clackamas County Libraries
Local Clackamas County libraries like Lake Oswego, Wilsonville and Oregon City provide access to genealogical databases, e.g., Fold3, HeritageQuest, Ancestry Library and others. Content varies by library. Much of this content is available online from your home with some specific collections in library use only.
Libraries in Washington and Multnomah counties are similar so check out your favorite local library for genealogy resources.
Several libraries have affiliated genealogy groups that you can find on their websites.

Familysearch affiliate libraries
Affiliate libraries have access to FamilySearch’s digital genealogical collections that are otherwise accessible only through a FamilySearch center. There is one in Lake Oswego:
1) Lake Oswego Public Library at 706 Fourth St.
You can find these libraries and more local affiliate libraries at the link above. This includes hours of operation.
Note that the Lake Oswego Oregon FamilySearch Center on Overlook Dr has closed due to the buildilng being sold.
